Kitchen Swap, Ole'

I'm in a kitchen swap over @ Fiberfreaks. And, I found the patterns for what I will be making my partner, Megan Just in case, she is reading my blog I wanted to make her smile. I'm going tonight to pick out just the right colors to make it SaSSy for her. I've never made anything for the kitchen except for dishcloths, so this should prove a challenge, indeed. I have one word....FiEsTa!

Damn!

Ack! It's one of those days....you know the kind. You wake up feeling pretty good. Its a beautiful, warm morning. the birds are singing, the soft breeze is stirring. There's an overall serenity feel to the morning.

Then the girls start fighting over clothes, shoes, ribbons, etc. The dogs start barking at the ant crawling across the lawn. The uba-hubby roars a mighty butt trumpet. And, you know from this point forward, your day is going downhill.

With that said, why not add Aunt Flo and her cramp demons to hop on for the ride. The house is a mess, the yard is a mess, is there anything around here that is not a mess? I have a mountain of 2 day laundry that is going to take awhile to defeat. I'm feeling like the size of a door, too. *sniff* I crawl back into bed, heating pad in hand and hope for some quiet slumber. *GRRRRRRRR* *GRRRRRRRRRRRRR* *RRRRRRRRWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGG* What in all that is good and pure in the world? My neighbor. The one that watches us everytime we go out the door. The one who watches my girls in the pool. The one who measures the land lines daily to make sure we are not growing grass on his side....sheesh. this MOE-RON chump has a bulldozier in his back yard. I'm hoping with the mass piles of dirt that he plans on building a mountain between our yards. So much for sleep. So much for serenity. Hubby calls... apparently when I paid my car off back at the first of the month, we have yet to receive any loan papers from the bank. Instead, of hubby calling and asking about it. He lets me. Fine. They're being mailed out today. Great. Now here I sit, cramping, bloating, and ready to pounce on the next victim that decides to bother me. I'm not a nice person today. I don't want condolences. I don't want to donate to your society. I don't need an insurance plan on my credit card. Leave me ALONE! Now, where's my blankey :-(

Rant

Has someone ever asked you to make them something only to cough when you quoted a price? This happened to me last Christmas. A lady that works with my mom had asked my to make a doily for her mother. I normally dont take orders but thought it would be some extra cash for the holidays. I quoted a 15 inch doily for 25 bucks. Which is really cheap. I knew that too. The lady coughed at that price. And, I was fine with not having to make it.

Fast Forward to today. She gets my mom to ring me and ask if I would be willing to teach a crochet class for the community center in her town for F R E E. She wanted to ask me since " I was the best crocheter she knew of ". Excuuuuuseeee me? You try to rip me off at Christmas and now you want me to teach a class for you? Um. no. Maybe I am being unreasonable, or even arrogant. But, my time is worth money. I have a family. I have a job. I have a semi-life (lol). If you think I am "that good" why not compensate me. Especially since I dont live in your town and would spend even more time and gas driving there...for free. moral: don't help people, when they don't want to help themselves.

Runner... still not set aflame

Heres my weekly runner update. I'm on round 69 out of 78. Then having to finish out each pineapple individually. not my fav thing to do. but its getting there. I'm so ready to start a new project too. But, have to stay focused on this with a deadline looming in mid may.

Shes Published!

I'm elated that my good friend Kathy has a new doily booklet published by Annies Attic. I've updated the link above to the page where you can order a copy of this timeless treasure.

I feel honored to have tested several of the doilies that made the book. Congrats my friend, I'm so happy and wish you continued success!

Shout Out!

I wanted to give a quick publicity thing to William Sledd. If you have never experienced a sleddhead moment click on over to his YouTube page. When your done, visit www.sleddhead.com and pick up one of those HAWT tee's. I've been watching his vid's for awhile now. And think he is doing a great job! Kudos.

Magic Yarn Ball

I received my FiberFreaks "magic yarnball swap package" Tuesday from LUCY! It was packed with tiny treasures, too. The dd's and I had a great time unraveling it this morning. Look at all the trinkets! Thank you so much Lucy! I plan to make a few dishcloths with the cotton yarn. I love everything!

B is for Braces

Yes. Braces. But not for me. hee hee.
Seriously, I spent the day with my dd yesterday. We shopped, we ate, we stopped off at the ortho's office to pick up these sparkly gems. Needless to say, it was a rough night once the pain set in. She had dinner of applesauce and chocolate pudding. Nutricious, eh? I agree. But, anyone who has ever experience the pleasure of braces, knows the night after is a bad, bad time. She tried to eat, but was to sore. I hope this next month passes quickly for her, as she adjusts to the discomfort. Doc says we keep the top ones on awhile, before he puts on the bottom set. Good thing is the other dd's teeth are perfect. Sure wish #1's had been though.

Runner Update..again

I've been working more on the runner. Hating it even more as I work. I dont like tackling big projects for this reason... I get burnt out, quick. By the time I finish this, I will be ready to set it aflame. May is creeping up though, and I have to complete it by then so, its off to runner-ville I go..
