ARGHH!!

You know what I've had it. I'm tired of picking up after everyone. I'm tired of doing all the laundry. I'm tired of cooking, cleaning and then cleaning up from cooking and cleaning. I'm tired of the woodsy smell of hunting paraphinalia. ARGH!

I have to have a personal gloating moment, every once in awhile.

I won the very first hook Jimbo turned on his new lathe. It is laser engraved with "Jimbo #1". And, its a size K. What am I going to do with a size K hook? Suggestions? I thought about maybe making an afghan or something. I'm open for ideas though. If u need/want a custom hook, he's ur guy.

Yes ~ I'm busy.

So, even though I was off work today. I still worked. A house has laundry, thats unending. Thats for sure. I watched Martha Stewart, and they were making vintage-looking tshirts. So, i thought I'd give it my best shot. DD's really like them. So, they think mommy is the coolest,again. Also, I' ve been redoing an antique dry sink. It was in terrible shape when I was gifted with it. I've been taking my time with the restoration. It has 5 layers of stains and paints on it. horrible. It will eventually be a glossy walnut finish and in my dining room as a buffet table. (maybe) Anywho. I've almost finished the table itself and thought I'd share. I still have 2 doors and 2 drawers to redo. one was cracked so I had to glue and clamp. I've taken a break from crocheting this week. Joint was aching. I'll be back full force soon though.

I've noticed alot of scenery is finally taking on more of a autumnish tinge. Took this while out today. Its a huge field that is covered in those wild daisies. In the background u can see the leaves are beginning to change. *yays*

We spent the weekend at T-Town with my brother & SIL, oh, T-Town is Tuscaloosa for all you, non-Bama folk. It's been awhile since we went to a ballgame, and I had forgotten how packed, and simple wonderful gameday can be. We arrived 4 hours before gametime. Toured the new additions the the stadium, that seats around 92,000 people now, and the walk of champions that has statues commemorating the national championship coaches. It wasn't too hot. We stopped on the quad, for some fresh-squeezed lemonade and sat in the shade, looking at the programs, and listening to the band rehearse.

We went back to the Walk of Champions and waited on the team to arrive. I'm so glad I had the new camera that takes fast shutter pics. I got the whole team as they came in. The crowd cheered.

The stadium is amazing. It always is. The rush of the crowd, the excitment. Ah... I remembered how much fun gameday was. We had great seats in the upperdeck. Right under the skyboxes. The best view. Shaun Alexander was there, Saturday night. So was Bear Bryants 1981 Championship team. The band was great, the ball was...well. the way it has been all year. The highlight of the night was when a fan jumped on the field and ran like a moron. I loved it. He will never forget it either. Gack, If I only had balls I could do something like that too.. LOLOL After the game, as the crowd was leaving, we always get a cup collection. This year was massive. The boys carried them out over their shoulder and got so many comments. It was hilarious. They are proud of it, as u can see.
But the time there was great. I wish I could go watch Bama play Miss St this weekend... ah but, work calls. Enjoy the pics!

My Fat Bottom Bag

This was a great project. I used some Imagine yarn that is 75% cotton and 25% rayon in a soft grey colorway, along with some of that cocoa chenille. (hey I have a massive cone of it and never used any). The stitch is really easy once you get the hang of it. I think I'll prolly use that stitch on some other things I will be making. The handles are 5" bamboo. I wanted darker ones, but couldn't find any. I'll be making a brown liner with a pocket to go inside this. Just have to find the right color fabric. I'm going to try and get another bag done this month during the CAL. Maybe yarn ain't so bad after all. I really like the way this turned out.

Who is ur fav artist?

I'm sure being creative with fiber, that everyone must have a favorite artist, painting, sketch? Anywho, mine is M.C. Escher. I took alot of art classes in college. Mainly, because I thought they would help my GPA and ease off on my brain. I found out that I really enjoyed art, and that I could draw, and paint. Go figure. I like alot of abstract art. Escher's facinated me. I could dive off into one of his sketches for hours. I thought I'd share one of my fav's. And, prolly the most famous of his work "drawing hands". I have a canvas of this and 3 others hanging in the hallway. enjoy.

WIP Wednesday

Ok, so I've said that I'm a one project girl. But, I guess the Christmas bug has bitten. I've got 2 things going at the moment, and prolly another added on as soon as I decide on it. I got this hand dyed yarn in the mail the other day. Its sorta a soft varigated powder blue. I decided to tackle knitting a scarf for the dd. I'm using some cocoa chenille with it. Why? I dunno. Why am I knitting? That should be the question. I'm not a knitter. I hold the needles too tight or something. My knuckle aches today from doing that last night. I can crochet for hours. I try knitting for 1 hr and its not pretty. What do u think about the colors? good, bad, ugly?

The other project is a doily. I started one day this week. I just really liked the way the flowers turned out. :-)

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we recognize the progress being made towards a cure for this disease, which robs so many women of their health and, in too many cases, their lives. This year, an estimated 203,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and almost 40,000 will die. Although we have made great medical strides in understanding breast cancer, much remains to be done to advance prevention, early detection, and effective treatment.

Regular screenings remain the most effective way to identify breast cancer in its earliest and most treatable stages. For women 40 and over, having mammograms every 1 to 2 years can reduce the risk of dying from breast cancer. To ensure mammo-graphy is available to all American women, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides screening and treatment services through the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program. Now in its 12th year, this Program has offered free and low-cost mammograms to almost 1.5 million low-income and minority women across our country.
